National Geographic Traveler Stay List 2009

"The hotels on our Stay List 2009 don't just reflect their surroundings—they help define them. What they all have in common is a transcendent vision that goes beyond traditional hotel-keeping. This mindset is what gives these hotels their special sense of place. Make no mistake: You'll sense the vibe at once. Maybe it's the regional architecture that speaks to you. Or a guest room resonating with history. Or local food that not only tastes great but tells a story to boot. After your stay, you'll leave with the kind of insight only soulful places can provide."

Where to stay on Sicily?

TravelEditor made a list of 11 nice places to stay on Sicily (Italy). We like this one; Caol Ishka. It seems like a relaxing and hip design hotel.

Read about French Country Hospitality at Château de Villeréglan

"France is such an exciting and varied place, it’s hard to know where to start. There is the bustling, metropolitan excitement of Paris, and then there is the scenic, provencial cool of Southern France. If the latter is sounding more your speed, try checking out Château de Villeréglan in the Southern department of Aude."

Our Stays: Villa de Loulia (Corfu, Greece)

What a surprise! Villa de Louila is an old villa in the smallest village on Corfu; Peroulades. The red buidling is owned by a couple from Athens. A very tranquil location in the upper north of the island. Bring a good pile of books and you never want to leave again...

A place to enjoy the fireflies in the evening and the home-made jams and marmelades in the morning.
